Justin Bieber Gets Fisker Karma For 18th Birthday - Electric vehicle maker Fisker is apparently having a difficult time making ends meet, but the California-based upstart got a boost this week when pop star Justin Bieber was handed the keys to a Fisker Karma on live TV. Bieber was on the set of Ellen this week to celebrate his 18th birthday when he got an unexpected visit from manager Scott Braun. Bieber apparently doesn’t like to mess up himself with flashy cars, so Braun took it upon himself to give the teenage mogul the flashiest hybrid on the market for his 18th birthday -- a black Fisker Karma.
“We wanted to make sure, since you love cars, that when you’re on the road you are always looking environmentally friendly, ” Braun said.
Justin Bieber Gets Fisker Karma For 18th Birthday - We’ve yet to hear official word if Braun actually plunked down $103, 000 for Bieber’s Karma or if Fisker is ground the bill (or some combination therein), but whatever the case, Fisker got some very nice publicity out of the deal. Fisker was essentially an unknown automaker before the Ellen appearance, and now the Karma is headlining newspaper and Web sites it wouldn’t ordinarily occupy. Whether that buzz will turn into market success, however, remains to be seen.
